Shannon County tax payments can become plate-renewal paperwork

Vehicle owners in Shannon County may need a county personal-property tax receipt or statement of non-assessment before renewing Missouri plates.

A Shannon County tax bill can turn into a license-plate task. The Missouri Department of Revenue says plate renewal can require verification of personal property tax: a paid receipt from the county of residence or a statement of non-assessment.

Shannon County’s collector is the elected office responsible for collecting current and delinquent property taxes. The collector page says the office offers online tax payments and that real and personal property taxes are levied annually, with bills sent around the first of November and due by December 31.

If you do not receive a bill by the end of November, Shannon County says to contact the collector. That is especially important for vehicle owners. Waiting until plate-renewal day to learn the tax paperwork is missing can send you back to the courthouse or the online payment portal.
