Shannon County personal property lists are due to the assessor

Shannon County personal property is assessed from what a taxpayer owns on January 1, with the assessment list due to the county assessor by March 1.

A Shannon County personal-property list reaches past the car in the driveway. Trailers, campers, boats, motors, ATVs and UTVs, livestock, farm machinery, business equipment, manufactured homes, and airplanes can all belong on the assessment side.

The key date is January 1. Personal property is assessed from what the taxpayer owns on that day, and the list is due to the county assessor by March 1 each year. Late penalties can apply under state law after May 1.

This is the quiet paperwork behind later errands. A side-by-side, boat, trailer, or piece of farm equipment may not feel like a tax problem when it comes home. It can become one when a plate, receipt, or account record is needed. The assessor is the first stop because the item has to be on the assessment record before the collector side can make sense later.
