The Phelps County Assessor is not the tax-bill office

Phelps County property-value questions start with the assessor, while tax bills and payment questions belong with the collector.

Phelps County’s assessor page is a good place to start for value, parcel, GIS, and personal-property assessment questions. The assessor’s office identifies itself as the local assessment office and provides links for personal property, e-filing, webGIS, parcel access, and tax-waiver requests.

The same page also makes the split clear when tax bills go out: if you call the assessor about the tax bill amount, the assessor is responsible only for property value and will discuss assessed value or market value, not the tax amount.

For payment and bill lookup, use the collector side linked from the county’s current tax pages instead of asking the assessor to change a bill. That separation keeps a frustrating call from bouncing around. Value problem: assessor. Payment, receipt, or bill lookup: collector.
