Little Piney Creek is a cold-water trout stream near Rolla
Little Piney Creek gives the Rolla area a spring-fed trout-water identity tied to Lane Spring Recreation Area and Mark Twain National Forest.
Little Piney Creek is one of the water features that gives Phelps County outdoor identity close to Rolla. The Forest Service says Little Piney Creek is considered a Wild Trout Management Area by MDC, and that Lane, Piney, and Yancy Mill springs provide the cold water needed for rainbow trout.
The same page says the creek is accessible from Lane Spring Recreation Area and Milldam Hollow off Forest Road 1735. That matters because the public access is tied to named federal recreation locations, not to every creek bank.
For anglers, hikers, and visitors, use the Forest Service page for access context and then check MDC for current fishing rules. Little Piney is a specific spring-fed stream system, not a generic creek stop.
