Cole County deed records have a separate online search

The Cole County Recorder provides online records search for deeds and other recorded real estate documents.

A tax record can point you toward a property, but it is not the same as a deed record.

Cole County’s Recorder of Deeds is the office for recorded land documents. The online records search helps with deeds and other recorded real estate documents, while plats and surveys have their own Recorder information.

The office split is worth keeping straight. The Assessor map helps identify the parcel and assessment record. The Collector handles bills and receipts. The Recorder is where the recorded document trail lives.

If the question is “what was filed?” or “where is the deed or plat?” start with the Recorder search or Recorder’s Office. If the question is tax value or payment, use the other county office.
