Barry County personal property forms are an assessor task

Barry County's assessor page points residents to personal property filing, including the March 1 return deadline and online filing links.

At the Barry County Courthouse on Main Street in Cassville, personal property filing sits on the assessment side of the tax system. Personal property includes cars, boats, equipment, and other items that are not part of the real estate. Property owned by Barry County residents on January 1 belongs on the assessment form, and late fees can apply after March 1.

Vehicle errands get tangled here. The assessment list has to match the owner, year, make, and model used for licensing records. If that list is wrong or missing, the Collector may not be able to issue a correct tax statement later.

Keep two chores separate: get the personal property list right with the Assessor, then handle the tax statement and receipt with the Collector after billing.
