Norfork Lake, a reservoir on the North Fork River system, reaches up into the southern edge of Ozark County from Arkansas. The lake and its shoreline are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, which means docks, shoreline use, and many lakeside activities follow federal shoreline-management rules rather than the assumptions that apply to ordinary private land. For someone buying near the water, the key point is that owning land next to the lake does not automatically grant a private dock or unrestricted shoreline use; those are governed by Corps permits and policies that can change. The lake is a regional draw for boating and fishing, but put-ins, permits, and shoreline rules should be confirmed with the Corps before counting on them. Treat lake levels as volatile information to check close to a trip rather than assuming a fixed shoreline.
