Eastern-lake docks answer to Ameren under a federal license
On the Miller County side of Lake of the Ozarks the shoreline is managed by Ameren Missouri under a federal hydropower license, so dock permits and shoreline rules come from the lake operator in addition to anything the county or city requires
Lake of the Ozarks is a reservoir held back by Bagnell Dam, and its shoreline is managed by Ameren Missouri under a federal (FERC) license. On the Miller County side, around Lake Ozark and the eastern coves, that means a dock is governed by the operator’s shoreline-management rules and permits, not only by county or city rules. A buyer counting on a dock should confirm the dock is permitted and that the permit transfers, and learn the operator’s rules on size, lighting, and changes, before closing. Ameren is the authoritative source for shoreline and dock permitting; the county handles property records and taxes. Short-term-rental limits, by contrast, depend on the local jurisdiction and should be checked separately.
