Schifferdecker Park carries Joplin's city-park memory
Schifferdecker Park gives Jasper County a Joplin park with amusement-era history, current recreation facilities, and the Joplin Museum Complex nearby.
Schifferdecker Park is more than a recreation listing. Joplin’s facility page says the site was called Electric Park for many years, later became Schifferdecker Electric Park, and became Schifferdecker Park after the land was given to the city in 1913.
The city’s resource directory also ties the park to picnic pavilions, a swimming pool, walking trails, golf, a skateboard ramp, and the Joplin Museum Complex.
That gives Jasper County a city-park identity note. For a visitor or resident, Schifferdecker is a place where Joplin’s old amusement landscape, current city recreation, and museum layer sit close together. Use city pages for facilities and current public-use details.
