Burr Oak Woods puts MDC public land inside Blue Springs

MDC places Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs, with woodland, trails, wildlife viewing, and a nature-center role in suburban Jackson County.

Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area is a strong Jackson County color note because it puts state-managed conservation land inside the suburban Blue Springs map. The Missouri Department of Conservation describes it as a 1,071-acre property in Blue Springs just north of I-70.

MDC also says the area was purchased in 1977 and that the nature center was built in 1982 as the first MDC nature center in Missouri. The site is managed for wildlife viewing and learning experiences.

For a local reader, this is the official source to check before treating the area like a city park. MDC sets the area map, regulations, trail rules, hunting or fishing rules where allowed, and program information.
