Jefferson City has its own concern-reporting system
A pothole, code, or street concern inside Jefferson City can be reported through the city's service request system rather than through Cole County.
A pothole near the Capitol is not handled the same way as a washout on a rural county road.
Jefferson City has its own report-a-concern system for city issues, including street problems. Cole County Public Works handles county roads and bridges. State highways add a third layer through MoDOT.
The address is the first sorting tool. Inside Jefferson City, a street sign, pothole, code issue, or local service complaint may belong in the city’s request system. Outside the city on a county road, Public Works is the better place to start.
This is less about bureaucracy than speed. The right road owner can send the request to the crew that actually maintains that piece of pavement or gravel.
