Settle's Ford ties Cass County to the South Grand River
Settle's Ford Conservation Area spans the South Grand River in southeast Cass and northeast Bates counties, adding bottomland and upland habitat to the county story.
Settle’s Ford Conservation Area is one of the places where Cass County opens into river-bottom country. Missouri Department of Conservation places the area on both sides of the South Grand River in southeast Cass County and northeast Bates County, with access from Cass County Route B.
MDC describes Settle’s Ford as a 7,364-acre area. Its public description ties the ground to the South Grand River, bottomlands, uplands, wetlands, fields, fishing ponds, and wildlife habitat.
That mix gives Cass County color that cannot be moved to a generic metro-edge county. The note helps a reader understand that the county’s outdoor identity runs beyond neighborhood trails and suburban parks into a shared South Grand River landscape.
