Don't assume current trout rules from an old Roaring River trip
Trout-park fishing has its own tags, seasons, and daily limits that the Department of Conservation sets and adjusts, so visitors who rely on memory or old info can easily get the rules wrong.
Fishing at Roaring River is not like fishing a regular Missouri lake or stream. Trout parks have their own rules. In the catch-and-keep season, you need a fishing permit plus a daily trout tag. The tag costs $5 for adults and $3 for kids 15 and under, and you buy it at the park. The park also has different zones, a daily limit, and set fishing hours that change with the season. The catch-and-keep season runs from March 1 through October 31. After that, a catch-and-release, fly-only season takes over for the winter. The Department of Conservation sets all of this, and it can change from year to year. So check MDC’s current trout-park rules before you go. Don’t count on a friend’s old visit or an out-of-date brochure.
